Jocarta Eqyptian Arabian Horses, Registered Italian Greyhounds &Boxers
JOCARTA EGYPTIAN ARABIANS, LLC. was originally comprised of a mother and daughter team who, having owned domestic Arabian horses since 1971, joined forces in 1994 to follow their lifelong dream of securing, breeding and providing the best quality Egyptian bloodlines available on the market. Before the death of senior owner Joyce Bertetti, Carolyn LaMarchina and her mother were able to acquire some of the top Straight Egyptian bloodlines found worldwide in breeding and show horses today. In 2000, Carolyn welcomed new partner, Mr. Mark Johnsen, who became a part of Jocarta. Together they are proud to make these bloodlines available... not only to “preservationist breeders” and investors, but to “newcomers” who are perhaps unaware... yet curiously attracted to the visually soothing, mesmerizing, and stress-relieving abilities of these scripturally historic horses.

Whether you are just "curious" ... or truly serious, please feel free to contact us with your questions about observing, learning, investing, breeding, purchasing, or obtaining "continued support" information.

Our ultimate goal is to continue the legacy ... by providing the next generation of breeders the foundation stock, training and encouragement they need to carry on.

JOCARTA REGISTERED BOXERS while we are no longer engaged in breeding our beautiful Boxers ... we will be happy to continue to refer interested parties wanting puppies or breeding services to other top breeders and owners of our line.

JOCARTA REGISTERED ITALIAN GREYHOUNDS staying true to the sleek, elegant, and historic bloodlines found in Egyptian Arabian Horses ... Jocarta has now ventured into the ancient world of the Italian Greyhound. Known to have existed in their present form for more than 2000 years, they were the only known "pet" dogs for many centuries... as evidenced from the ancient days of Pompeii.

The old Latin motto, "cave canem," or "beware of dog," found frequently in old Roman villas... did not refer to the huge, intimidating breeds of today, but to the tiny little "Italian Greyhound." It was a warning to visitors that they should take care not to crush the tiny little pet of the matron by taking careless steps.

There are many wonderful stories connected with the "Italian Greyhound" ranging from monarchs paying as much as 200 head of cattle for one beautiful prancing specimen, to the King of Prussia whose life would have ended as he took refuge under a bridge with dog in his arms had the dog uttered a sound.

Bred to be a “pet” with no other use in mind, they are excellent for people with allergies, not yappy like most little dog breeds, long-lived, fit in small places, and born to cuddle, play, prance, or dance for your enjoyment.

We dubbed our first specimen Jocarta’s Entertainment Director” ... Her name was “Gigi”. We later acquired a new “breeding/show quality” female. Initially trained at Jocarta, she was returned to her breeder, Judith Pikop of Arizona, for showing. She attained her Championship status before reaching her first birthday, and won both of her “Majors” before she even had enough points to “finish”. Incredibly popular in the show ring, her official name was CH. Pikop’s Jazzmin Moon, but we dubbed her “Jocarta’s Ambassador”.
